Saturday Session

11:38am Today, Lotus Fucker is coming up from DC to record a split 7" and tracks for a Maximum RockNRoll comp. We're trying a new setup at Haus Of Leaves today, as well as some new mic choices and configurations. I'm considering a Blumlein array for drum overheads...

Until they arrive, I'm working on the audio commentary for the Witch's Brew dvd release. Chris Lamartina and Jimmy George came over a few nights ago and recorded a lot of interesting trivia and info about the film (and film making in general), and I'm stoked to be working with them again.

Winter Update

So yeah, finished that Silent Way LP in New Jersey. The basement flooded the second day, but no gear was touched. Bonus.

The LET'S LP has stalled. Harwood also, thought that's as much my fault as anyone's.

A new Chaos Destroy LP is currently being mixed, as is a Lotus Fucker 10" and a Heaviness Of The Load LP. Additionally, my band Caestles wrote a whole new set. I've been busy.

Blogging more regularly is one of my New Year's resolutions. That feels gross and retro in an odd way.

Yup, I still exist.

Sooooo, Pansori's "Transition #1 [5-20-2010]" came out on Bear Records this past winter. "Light, And Then The Tall Windows" was released on the Pansori / Pregnant Spore split cassette on Rainbow Bridge. "Frog On The Mountain", which was recorded at the same session at "Light", is due to be release don a split 7" this fall.

The Lotus Fucker/Wanky's split came out, as did the Lotus Fucker/Penis geyser split that I recorded. Additionally, the Lotus Fucker LP is being remastered and reissued. 2 members of LF are also in Washington DC's Death Rats, for whome i recorded a 7" ep that turned out pretty rad. I'm waiting to receive my vinyl copies of the DR and LF splits.

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on the Harwood LP, as well as putting vocals on the Let's LP. On top of all that, I'm collaborating with writer/director Chris Lamartina on the score for the Midnight Crew Studios film "Witch's Brew", as well as doing the foley/sound fx. VERY EXCITING!!!!!

This April Fool's weekend, I'm headed to New Jersey to track an LP with Silent Way. This will be the first time making a record in a different state for both me and the new rig. I feel like a baller.

none of which was updating this blog. oops.

we got a test pressing of the Lotus Fucker/Wanky's split 7". sounds awesome. they're on tour this summer, make sure you see them.

we're in the midst of 2 projects.....9 songs for Sacrifidelis and 5 songs for Caestles. we may soon be working with a few other bands this summer. stay tuned for a super late update about it.

busy dudes

That is what we are. The Pansori song is tracked, mixed, and mastered. The Lotus Fucker 7" is mastered and off to the presses. The Chaos Destroy record is mastered and being sequenced. We also mixed and mastered a live set from the Barclay Year series by Four Fingers from NJ that they're using on a cassette split. Nice.

April 10th we're doing live sound for an event at The Visionary Art Museum benefiting Young Audiences of MD. Arts education....cuz Wu Tang is for the churren.

We're so dizzy from the last 2 months that I don't recall what's lined up next. Yay audio!

Ardour 3.0 gets released soon. STOKED.

We seem to have propelled forward in time past when we intended to update. Recap:

- march 4th at Barclay we tracked. Bass, drums, and guitar for 29 tracks with Chaos Destroy.

- march 11th we tracked vocals and guitar for all 29 CD tracks at Audio Esotereca hq.

- march 12th we tracked 2 new Lotus Fucker songs for a split 7" with the legendary Wankys at Charm City Art Space, then packed up and headed back to AEhq and mixed them.

- march 13th we did rough mixes of the CD tracks and mastered the Lotus Fucker tracks.


This Friday, we're back at Barclay to record a new Pansori song for an upcoming 7", and possibly master another for an upcoming split 10". Busy times.

FIRST

Welcome to the inaugural posting on the Audio Esoterica blog. A quick rundown of recent happenings....

- engineered, mixed, and mastered the self-titled Lotus Fucker 12", which was released on vinyl earlier this year. We're told the first run is sold out in Europe, and nearly sold out entirely. Better get your first pressing now before they're gone, record nerds. Here's a super-positive review.
